A comprehensive and practical training program focused on improving resident physician exposure to and competence in critical care situations, bedside diagnostic testing modalities such as point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), and bedside procedures. Skills-based workshops include:
-ACLS Review/Mock Codes with SimMan (including post-code debriefing sessions, attention to AHA's "Get with the Guidelines" goal metrics for cardiac arrest, basic/advanced airway management, intraosseous access).
-Various procedural sessions on manikins, including those led by subspecialists.
-"101 Courses" including: "Crash Card Med Review" and "Peri-Intubation Meds" with Pharmacy, "O2/NIPPV 101" with Respiratory Therapy, etc.
-Ultrasound-guided vascular access training
-POCUS training, including focused cardiac ultrasound (FoCUS), lung and thoracic ultrasound, abdominal ultrasound and vascular ultrasound, along with musculoskeletal examination. This program is provided by a renowned physician who provides training nationally and internationally.
-Cadaver lab procedural training: A tremendous and rare residency training opportunity for broad-ranging procedural training on real tissue, with attention to anatomic landmarks.
